I love my girlfriends.
They are the sisters I never had. Growing up with two brothers, as wonderful as they are, just didn’t get me!
Connecting with my girlfriends has always been my saving grace, safe place, and inspiration.
So much so, I wrote a book about it, “The Girlfriend Handbook…just for us girls,” where I put into words, with my perspective and humor sprinkled in, some of the “rules” around the common code of conduct that binds us.
From there – many years later, I decided we needed a landing pad. A name and place where we unite, share, and build memories as only girlfriends do.
As Girlfriend Nation launches and forms as a community, we’ll get acquainted by hand-picking gifting, gathering, getaway and giving back resources and products into tidy, well-researched packages so you don’t have to.
And just as important, we want to hang out and connect with you. Having fun, after all, is the central theme here!

“The Girlfriend Handbook…just us for us girls” was born out of a conversation while planning a dinner for a girlfriend in 1994. I hammered out the details with a fellow girlfriend taking great pains to “do all of the right things.” The conversation went something like this:
“Did you make the reservations at her favorite restaurant?… Yes, done…What did you buy her?… The Mr. Microphone she has been dropping hints about for the last six months…Is it wrapped or in a festive bag?… Definitely wrapped and in a festive bag…Are you taking her presents in or leaving them in the car for later?… Absolutely taking them in; we want everyone to know it is her special day…Splitting the check?… Yes, we will pay…What are you wearing?… I don’t know what are you wearing?… Oh, yeah, do you think we should order a cake?… Yes, of course, that would be the girlfriend thing to do!” The light bulb went on…A Girlfriend Handbook was in order!
It was time to put some order to the rules. The purpose was to set standards of appropriate and acceptable behavior between girlfriends. The suffering, wondering, guessing, and agonizing can stop with “The Girlfriend Handbook,” where you learn “exactly” what is the girlfriend thing to do and the common code that brings us together – all with an abundance of humor and a troupe of girlfriends to assist you along the way!
